Seeing Having no ticket buying experience except over the phone, I THOUGHT I could just go to my local record store that was selling tickets to buy tickets that morning for the tour! WRONG! Little did I know that camping out for tickets was the norm! I NEEDED to see "THE ONE" again, so I appealed to my husband who begins the process of calling local brokers. It begins to look like I am not going to go because the tickets start out at $200 and work their was up to $500!! AAAHHH! Mike is really not willing to part with that kind of money! Finally, a few days before the concert, we found a broker who had decent tickets and was only charging $30 dollars over the original cost. I don't care for brokers, and still do not to this day, but I wanted to see him, so he took $300 out of the bank and bought the tickets for me! My best friend LaVerne and Mike went with me! Mike had no trouble selling the last ticket that we had to purchase. He put it on the net at work and had a call within 5 minutes of it's posting! The 20th of August was another very hot day and there is not a breeze stirring!! We get to the Pavilion and look for our seats. WOW, these aren't not too bad! They were 6 rows from the front on the left hand side. They are not pit seats, but I can see Elton really well and that is all that matters! Seeing how CLOSE I am, I immediately begin to plot someway to get his attention. I know I will never get to the front of the stage, but I want to do SOMETHING!! I ask my friend if she will shout I love you with me and she declines. I figure he is this close, he will most certainly hear! The lights go down, and he begins to play! It's the best I have ever seen him! I watch as several fans make their way to the stage, including a girl we had seen previously carrying an oil painting around of him! She gives it to "THE ONE" in exchange for an autograph. He looks astounded... the picture is beautiful!! After this he sings "The Circle of Life" .....it is so beautiful! When he stops singing, it is deadly silent, not one peep is made by the audience. I don't know what came over me, but before I knew it and could stop myself, I stood up and shouted "I LOVE YOU, ELTON!!". I know I never thought twice because I was shocked when I looked and saw most of the Pavilion looking MY WAY!!! I sat down quick, and to MY SURPRISE and SHOCK, ELTON HEARD ME!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! He looked over and said "I want to dedicate this next song to my loving FAN on the left hand side!!!!" OH MY GOD....he means ME!!!! He dedicates "Your Song"! Not every fan get a song dedication and although it was indirect, it remains my favorite concert experience!!!! |
